Lake Garda is not just about picture-postcard landscapes, romantic villages, and boat trips: it is also
a land of great wines and wineries to discover, perhaps during a weekend in late summer/early fall surrounded by nature, good food, and relaxation. Among all the
excellent wines of the area, one in particular deserves to be the subject of this article:
Lugana DOC.
The appellation extends across the
southern part of Lake Garda, between the
provinces of Brescia and Verona, encompassing towns such as Desenzano, Sirmione, Pozzolengo, Lonato, and Peschiera del Garda. The clayey soils and proximity to the lake create the ideal conditions for growing Turbiana, the grape variety from which the famous
Lugana white wine is made.
If you want to
enjoy an authentic experience among vineyards, tastings, and dreamlike views, here are the
wineries not to be missed in the Lugana area.
