It is such an evocative area of the lake that over the years it has conquered Hollywood stars and iconic political personalities, such as Napoleon, Tsar Alexander II, Prince Charles of England and Winston Churchill. It is said, in fact, that Churchill loved to carve out some quiet moments from his hectic political life precisely at Punta San Vigilio, where he would paint the landscape in the shade of an old lemon house. 

Punta San Vigilio is almost entirely occupied by an immense Renaissance villa surrounded by cypress trees. Built in the 16th century by the humanist and philosopher Agostino Brenzone, its Italian-style garden has been inspired by the drawings of Michele Sammicheli. 

Around the villa there is also a small church dedicated to San Vigilio, bishop of Trento, and a charming inn with a double loggia, overlooking the lake. Not far away is the small harbour, which crowns the complex and gives it a very picturesque aura. 

On the opposite side of the promontory is the Baia delle Sirene, one of the most beautiful private beaches on Lake Garda. Crystal-clear water, white sands and centuries-old olive groves: the Baia delle Sirene is a true oasis of relaxation!

Once out of the harbour we will head towards Villa Maria Callas, the beautiful 1920s building where the soprano loved to spend her summer holidays. Further along, on the right, you will see the Aquaria spa complex, an oasis of well-being nestled between the green peninsula and the waters of the lake. 

The tour continues, and the ruins of the majestic Roman villa known as the Grotte di Catullo appear. It is a breathtaking sight: the villa is immense and is surrounded by a historic olive grove with 1,500 trees. Some are up to 500 years old! 

Navigation proceeds, and we arrive at the Baia delle Sirene, where Punta San Vigilio appears in all its extraordinary beauty. We will stop for a short break at the marina bar, and then continue our tour towards Garda. Here we will stop longer, so you can enjoy a walk through the centre of the village, sip an aperitif and do some shopping! You can visit the medieval parish church and admire the beautiful buildings in the historic centre, which is also renowned for its scenic lakeside promenade. 

On the way back we will pass by the Boiola sulphurous spring, which ripples the waters of the lake with bubbles of thermal water from Mount Baldo. Once back in Sirmione, the motorboat will pass under the drawbridge of the Scaligero Castle to reach the Garda Tours meeting point.
